| Review | Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Eye Filter in Star Aura
This glowing eyeshadow formula isn't new to the Charlotte Tilbury range, as several years ago when the brand first launched, she released a palette with this formula. Now, it finally has a name and it's associated with her Hollywood Flawless Filter range, which doesn't really make any sense to me. Charlotte Tilbury loves to attach familiar and popular names from existing products to new releases. I believe the brand does this to attach the positive feelings from the existing product to the new product, also, the familiar and popular name si recognizable and creates hype. There's really no connection that these new eyeshadows have with the Hollywood Flawless Filter (reviewed here).
The Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Eye Filter in Star Aura retails for $53.00 USD and is available at Charlotte Tilbury, Sephora. This eyeshadow palette is housed in a classic square burgundy compact with rose gold detailing. The design on the front of the palette is different from the classic Charlotte Tilbury design but essentially everything is the same. The compact snaps open and close, it is simple but secure. The compact is made of plastic but still has aspects of luxury to it.
SHADES
All the shades in this palette are quite light and the shades are the same mid-tone that there isn't a huge contrast between each shade. This will be more apparent on some skin tones more than others, like medium or tan skin tones. The eyeshadow palette is meant to give a very soft and natural look overall.
Champagne - This warm peachy champagne has both fine peachy champagne pearl and very fine flecks of glitter. This shade has a rose gold undertone.
Pink Champagne - This warm pink champagne shade is very light and pale. It only has the softest pearl of all the shades and is more of a satin finish than pearlescent.
Brown - This shade is a deeper and slightly cooler bronze brown shade with gold shimmer.
Bronze - This soft bronze shade has just a touch of warmth but isn't too warm. This shade also has a slight rose gold undertone.

FORMULA
I'm a big fan of these wet/dry eyeshadow formulas and I can't help picking them up every time a brand releases them. They're such a versatile formula and any time I get to play with the texture of my eyeshadows, I'm excited to do it. This palette includes all the same metallic-ish texture, which gives the eyes a gilded and shiny look and very fine shimmer. The finish of these eyeshadows is really soft and doesn't emphasize texture, which is so great for those with texture around their eyes or for mature skin types.
This formula has a beautiful silky smooth texture that can easily be picked up on a brush. These eyeshadows are very pigmented and a little goes a long way. Additionally, the formula is so soft and can be layered seamlessly, Due to the creamy and silky texture, these eyeshadows blend seamlessly into one another, leaving no demarcation of where each shade begins and ends. The eyeshadows really blend effortlessly and they have a really soft texture but the eyeshadows still adhere really well to the skin.
This is an impressively luxurious formula! I haven't tried a silkier formula than this one! There's no fallout with this formula it just glides on the eyes and it feels extremely light on the eyes. This formula is a gel-powder so, it adapts to the movement of the eyes and it doesn't crease. This formula wears beautifully on the eyes for beyond 8 hours.
The biggest issue for me with this palette is that there isn't enough contrast between the shades, like the Champagne and Pink Champagne are very close in tone. I knew this when purchasing it and I was planning on using this palette more as a complementing palette for my other eyeshadows and palettes. It does stand alone well for a soft and natural look but because the textures are all the same, it lacks a little bit of depth.
THE LOOK
For this look, I applied the highest Champagne shade in the inner third of my eyes and blending upward to brighten the inner part of my eyes. I then applied the Pink Champagne shade to the center of the lid and the Bronze to the outer corner, blending upward past the crease. Finally, for a bit of definition, I applied the Brown on the very very corner and out crease for more depth. I applied a black liquid eyeliner with a very small flick at the end. Since the shades are so similar in tone and texture, it doesn't capture well on camera. It gets kind of washed out in certain lighting, as you can see.
FINAL THOUGHTS
Wow! These eyeshadows are so impressively soft and silky! I love the effortless and easy color combination and formula. It is so blendable and you can quickly achieve a very soft and natural look. This palette looks best in-person than in photos because the lack of contrasts between the shades and the lack of variety of textures makes it difficult to capture beautifully in images. However, I think that the palette stands along quite well and it is only bettered by pairing it with other eyeshadows to bring out the beautiful textures of these eyeshadows. The ultra-silky formula has me obsessed with this formula and while I don't need another eyeshadow palette, I may just pick up the other palettes in this collection! The unique smooth and creamy formula is just such a delight to use and I can't recommend them enough! I really hope Charlotte Tilbury will make these a permanent addition to her range and continue to bring out more shades!
