Unfortunately this was not my missing glass slipper.
I so badly wanted to love this MAC collection. The packaging was beautiful and made me feel like I would see this on Cinderellas vanity. The only packaging I did not care for was the eyeshadow palette. I felt the gold "Cinderella" on the cover blended in with the eyeshadows and was lost being that the cover was clear.
When it comes to MAC Cosmetic collections, they always seem to have some kind of pow to them. This surprisingly did not have that pow I was hoping for. The colors were extremely light, soft and subtle. These all were on the light side of neutrals.
The six pan eyeshadow palette "Stroke of Midnight" was my favorite from the entire collection. This had a total of 7.2 g of product and retails for $44.00. I liked that I could get some real use out of it, being that it is an all neutral palette. The case is plastic with a clear window and a magnetic closure. I was upset to learn that 5 out of the 6 eyeshadow colors are part of MAC's permanent collection! I felt like this palette was not so special after all. The only new eyeshadow color introduced was "Stroke of Midnight." I would have preferred that the eyeshadow colors would have been limited edition colors verses their permanent collection in fancy packaging. I also am having a problem with the eyeshadow shade "Vapor" the color payoff is terrible and to even get the color out of the pan onto an eyeshadow brush or to use my finder to apply is difficult. I think I have given up on using "Vapor" altogether. In all I still very much enjoy the palette.
Both powders in this collection each retail for $28.00. When it comes to the "Mystery Princess" containing 10 g of product (a touch of radiance) Beauty Powder and "Coupe D'Chic" contains 8 g of product (shimmering sheen) Iridescent Powder I loved them both. I feel that regardless of the name of the product they both performed the same and could be used the same. "Coupe D'Chic" is more of a gold tone shimmer and "Mystery Princess" more of an opal essence type glow. I found the description of both items to be silly. No true description on how to use or what they even should be used for was offered.
When it comes to face enhancing powders, I tend to group them into one of three categories. Blush, bronzer or highlighter. I'm placing both of these powder into the highlighter category LOL. I feel that they both can be used to highlight the face or bring some radiance to the décolleté. Regardless, these both will be used and I'm happy to have purchased them both.
The lipsticks! I think the one item or items in any MAC collection that people tend to gravitate to, are the lipsticks. This collection was no different. I knew from the beginning I had to have both! Both lipstick each retail for $17.50 and contain 3 g of product. Again, not what I had expected. Both so sheer with a frosty shimmer. Both lacking on true color pigmentation. I wanted some type of pow! I like these but I don't think I will be reaching for them often.
Again in this collection two sheer, shimmering products. This was a last minute impulse purchase. I figured since I was buying the lipsticks I should go ahead and purchase the two lip glasses that accompany them. Each retailing for $16.50 and contain 4.8 ml of product. I do enjoy these. I laugh because these could literally go over any lip color to enhance it. I'm being silly in the sense that I don't want to dirty the doe foot applicator LOL.
I wish I could have captured their beauty in these photos. Sadly its beauty must be seen in person. "Happily Ever After" the favorite of the two has a blue/green reflect to it. If you want to see how Cinderella glass slipper shines look no further. This is it, in a tube of Lip Glass! "Glass Slipper" has a fuchsia and violet reflect shine to it. This Lip Glass reminds me of the pink dress destroyed by the evil step sisters or how the castle would glimmer at night in the moon light. From my descriptions alone you can already tell, I'd like to swap the names. Sadly I can't and someone at MAC already named them and named them wrong LOL!
I decided that I would swatch the entire collection (that I purchased) minus the eyeshadows to show how similar all the colors are. In this picture, it shows how sheer and alike they all are. In all I feel that this collection reflects Cinderella's night out at the ball. I would have like to have seen the creativity of color pulled from other aspects of the movie. In all I like this collection but felt it could have had a bit more pow to it.
