My daily facial skin routine

Hi everyone,

you might be wondering how I prep my face for all that make up I've been talking about.

Personally, I like a fresh clean canvas, OV-protected and mattified so that my make up can last all day. Applyine too much daycream makes me feel like my foundation and powder are going to turn darker so I need an all-in-one, light base. I'm also acne prone, so I need a mild foaming and cleansing product to rid my face of grime in the most gentle way as possible.

Let's start with my morning routine:

I put my hair in a ponytail and wash my face with cold water and a mild foaming gel. My favourite is the Formula Best Face Forward, because it smells great and feels cool and very gentle. It makes my skin feel plump and healthy just like it promises. I use cold water because it wakes me up and because it doesn't "dish wash" my face. You know when you let plates soak in warm water, the grease comes off? That's what I try to avoid by using cold water. I religiously believe that the cold water and the gel take away all the grime and none of the natural oils on my skin.

Sometimes I like to use a face sponge, especially around my nose. Whenever I feel like just using water alone, for example around my sensitive hair line, I just wet this with water and stroke around my hairline for an ultra fresh feeling.

A few times a week I will be using a Garnier Pure Zone scrub. I've always liked them because they look so scientific... and because they are meant for young skin, which is something that reminds me of when I was 13.

For any clogged spots or pimples I take a comodone spoon and "scoop" away blackheads from my pores. I have to say that a lot of BB creams seem to cause clogged pores with me.

After dabbing my face dry on the most gentle towel I can find lying around, I prep my skin for make up. Like I said I prefer UV protection and a light formula that sinks in fast enough so my foundation doesn't start "changing" in color.

Most of the time I use the Niva Daily Essentials moisturiser, the blue or the pink bottle. They are only 4,99, light, offer UV protection and sink in quickly.

And sometimes I will use the Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector BB cream. I told you that I used this for months in a row a while ago, and people always told me how great I looked, probably because I hardly had to use any foundation anymore because it covers so well. But what I noticed after a while was that the BB cream, at least I think it was that, started to clog my pores. In fact, it made some pores in my eye area "hard" (you know, when you can't even squeeze them because the skin around it is too sensitive). So I stick my moisturiser most of the time.

In the evening I take my make up off with L'Oreal Dermo Expertise for Waterproof makeup. It 3,49 and it takes away absolutely everything. I don't need to use anything else. I do soak the pad until it's almost dripping wet to avoid any kind of rubbing on my eyes. My eyes are sensitive enough from the reading and typing I do and all the waterproof make up I wear. This method asks for a lot of product, but my eyes are worth it. Also, I onlu use cotton pads for SENSITIVE eyes, which consists of a double layer of cotton. I use Demak'Up. I don't use tissues because they cause too much friction.

I don't use any more soap at night, and although the make up remover isn't too oily, I do take off any last remains with an ultra light cleansing milk on another pad, currently the Garnier Sensitive one with rose water. The reason why I like this one is because it can be used on the eyes! That is very important for me because there is no worse feeling than waking up with oily undereye skin.

Sometimes, when my skin is dry. I use a night cream. A light night cream is hard to find but the ones from L'Oreal aren't too bad. I'm currently using the Triple Active one. I also have the Nivea Hydra effect night cream, but it's too heavy, just like most night creams. This reminds me I should treat myself one day to a finer night cream because it's the one thing I don't spend my money on.

And right before I go to bed, I apply some NYC Applelicious in red, just to feel a bit more fresh. Sometimes I also apply some mineral blush.

Whenever I feel like it I apply the Garnier Dark Spot Corrector. I was so curious for this product that I bought it even though I don't have any dark spots on my face. Except for birth marks, but I don't think it will remove that? I have used it once because I wanted it to give me a clear complexion. I don't know if it contains UV protection, so I use it at night. Another advantage of this is that, because of the vitamin C in it, it will probably work better in the dark anyway. After using it one night I did feel like I had a finer complexion, as if all the hardly visible pigmenation differences in my face had gotten a little bit better. I will try it a bit more often.

Here is the picture that makes every woman buy this product ;) isn't he cute??? ;)

Another interesting thing, a lightening eye roller from the Garnier Light line (not sure if this will be available in Europe):
