Hi guys
I was at the drugstore looking for a nourishing spray to use before blow drying my hair. I have different sprays and serums that promise to add shine to my hair but they are either unpractical or they make my hair heavy.
I was looking for a spray that:
- spray very fine - doesn't smell terrible, preferably has a nice smell - doesn't make my hair heavy - doesn't make my hair feel oily or full of build up
So far I only liked the L'Oréal Extraordinary Oil, which you can use on hair before washing, after washing and even on dry hair, all of these, has an amazing, refined hair salon smell, is very light weight, adds body to my hair and sort of makes it shine more. But because it's an oil it couldn't be in spray form so I have to pump out product (they say 3-4 squirts but I'm not sure), and I'm not sure how to spread the oil in my hair.
A spray would have made things easier. Just spray each section once and that would have been enough.
I noticed this new spray for the new Oleo line from Syoss. Now, I never liked Syoss, to be honest. The bottles are heavy, it smells bland and it doesn't seem to do anything for my hair except for stripping it a bit. It's because I believe in technological improvements that I Always give brands a second chance (like I did with Garnier, which I will write a very positive review about in a moment).
This spray is called Oleo Intense Micro Spray. Oleo sounds like a combination of Oreo and Ole, two very delicious cookies, but it doesn't sound very catchy, does it? I mean, what's wrong with the word oil? What did attract me was the term "micro-spray". Also the fact that it's leave-in, which means it is meant to use on hair while it's towel dry. It is meant to be nourishing, a lightweight oleo treatment. It costed me 4,99 or 5,99, I can't remember. Not too much, and although cheap products can be good, I was suspicious. Cheap hair products are usually bad.
So how did it turn out?
First of all, I was very disappointed when sprayed with it. Luckily I tested it in the sink, because a big hard squirt came out. I expected a "micro-spray" to spray (and not shoot) a glistening cloud of fine oil particles over my hair, you know, like in the Pantene commercial with Liv Tyler? Oh well, this is Syoss, not Pantene, forgot where I was, unfortunately. Sigh, I instantly know that I was going to have to squirt this product into my hands first to spread it somewhat evenly in my hair. I could've just stuck with the L'Oréal Extraordinary Oil...
But L'Oréal isn't the hero in this story...before using this spray I left the L'Oréal Elseve Total Repair mask (it had been in my cupboard for months, I don't know why I hadn't thrown it out), and I think that this might have to do something with my hair being generally heavy after blow drying my hair after using a L'Oréal conditioner or mask . If you have read articles on this site before then you probably know that I absolutely despise L'Oréal conditioners because they always leave build-up. Know, it could have been coincidence, it could have been the Syoss spray, but my hair was left with build up again. Dull, uncontrolable, wavey where it shouldn't be,... I'm suspecting both brands because there was no sign of improved shine in my hair, so I can say that the Syoss spray did absolutely nothing for my hair. I had rinsed the conditioner out of my hair very well and hadn't even used it above my neckline, but still...
I give this product a 0 out of 10. It's harsh, but so is wasting 6 euros down the drain and having to redo my hair. Sorry Syoss, never bying from you again!
x
Helene
